STOP Believing The Lie
STOP Believing The Lie
I Corinthians 7: 32, 34
I would like you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord's affairs-how he an please the Lord. An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord's affairs: her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit.
STOP believing the lie that tells you that you are single only because you "have issues" with men or women. You are not single because you are broken, or because you are unacceptable in some way. The very idea is ludicrous! We are all broken vessels-whether married, divorced, or single. It is good to recognize your brokenness, but never curse yourself because you are a broken vessel. That is exactly the sort of vessel that God delights in using.
You are single because you are chosen by God to walk in single-minded devotion to Him. Singleness is a calling as surely as marriage or parenthood, and one calling is not greater than another. You may be called to singleness for a year, a decade, or a lifetime. However long you are called to be single, do not waste this opportunity to do something extraordinary for God.
The advantage of being single is that you can be single-minded for God in a way that married folk cannot. And that is a very powerful advantage for anyone who seeks abundant life in Christ. But today's church has done a great disservice to singles when it promotes married life above the single life as a "more mature" Christian way of life. Nothing in scripture supports that claim. Yet, strangely, many church folk make that claim- either in their speech or in their attitude. Don't let popular opinion dissuade you from embracing the opportunity God has given you. Instead, make up your mind to see the single life for what it is - one of the most intimate gifts God can give.
